Brussels calling
Last week, I went to Malmö, Sweden’s third city, for the annual edition of our region’s biggest sustainability business event, Eco Living Scandinavia. As part of the trade fair, Natural Beauty Show presented a strong lineup of conscious beauty and personal care brands from the Nordics and beyond. I also took the stage for a session, sharing the Beauty Editors’ Insights together with industry colleagues Nina Høfler Kluge (BeautyNews/Fagbladet Kosmetik) and Agneta Elmegård (Skönhetsredaktörerna/Aftonbladet).
It’s a complex sector, natural and organic beauty, full of not only certifications and regulations but also greenwashing. One of the invited guests, Dr Mark Smith, Director General of NATRUE (The International Natural and Organic Cosmetics Association), spent his session on stage explaining the latest Regulatory updates in cosmetics. Afterwards, we interviewed him about the key takeaways, not the least on the talked-about coming EU regulations.
— The final text can take into account both the need to combat greenwashing and ensure the practicalities of the text are workable for the industry, he says, later in this email.
